Caffe Buongiorno

Caffe Buongiorno has been part of Mitcham since 1997, established in the tradition of its sister restaurant, Caffe Buongiorno Norwood. The family-operated cafe has grown into a local meeting point, with a menu centred on Italian cuisine, pizza, cakes, coffee and local wines. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available, and the venue says it trades seven days a week from 9am until late.

Coffee is a particular focus. The cafe uses Santa Vittoria Coffee’s Oro blend, made from 100% Arabica beans, and grinds it on site. The beans are intended for both espresso and milk-based coffees, giving the coffee offering a clear Italian cafe influence without making the menu sound more complicated than it is. The Mitcham venue is opposite Mitcham Shopping Centre and Wallis cinemas, with schools and sporting grounds nearby. Inside, the restaurant seats more than 250 people, while a quieter outdoor dining area provides another option. That scale makes it suitable for more than a quick coffee: the cafe specifically positions itself for Sunday breakfasts, business lunches, school groups and social gatherings. It also offers catering and can arrange functions with meal and drink packages or meals alone.

Families are well catered for, with an extensive children’s menu available across breakfast, lunch and dinner. The family focus extends to the atmosphere, with the owners aiming to make visitors feel comfortable, particularly younger guests. Caffe Buongiorno’s support of local community, sporting and school groups is another part of its Mitcham identity, including donations for fundraising events. For locals, it offers a practical all-day setting for coffee, a family meal, a group booking or a larger function, rather than a small cafe built only around takeaway service.
