Genesis Adelaide: A Light Show at Pilgrim Uniting Church

Genesis is a 30-minute indoor light and sound experience presented inside Pilgrim Uniting Church on Flinders Street, Adelaide. The show interprets the beginning of the universe and the Genesis creation story through moving projections, coloured light, animation and music, surrounding the audience rather than playing out on a conventional stage. Its four-part journey focuses on light, water, soil and plants, offering a visual interpretation of the first three days of the story.

The church is an important part of the experience. Pilgrim Uniting Church is a Revival Gothic building made from Glen Osmond stone, with origins reaching back to the 1860s. Inside, the vaulted ceiling, pointed Gothic arches, stained-glass windows and strong acoustics provide a distinctive setting for the projections and music. The production is designed to make use of the whole space, so the audience can watch the imagery unfold around them while remaining seated.

The event’s organisers say Genesis has previously attracted more than 1.8 million attendees worldwide, following shows in Europe. The experience begins in May 2026; tickets are sold online through Fever rather than at the door. There is no onsite parking, food, drink, restroom or coat check, and bright flashing lights may be unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy.
