Langman Recreation Reserve

Langman Recreation Reserve is a spacious Burnside destination for sport, play and a walk among original Grey Box woodland. The reserve centres on a large oval, with playgrounds on either side and a walking trail that climbs towards a lookout. Its bushland setting gives the area a more secluded feel than a typical suburban sports ground, while the open space makes it suitable for active afternoons and relaxed family visits.

Children have several play options, including swings, seesaws, a rope nest swing, a spring-mounted dinosaur and a rope climbing frame. The larger tree-themed modular unit includes slides, steps, platforms and a rope climb, with one of the swings designed for toddlers. Mulch provides the soft-fall surface, and the playgrounds sit beside the oval and tennis courts. The council’s facility listing also notes shade areas, picnic tables, a drinking fountain and inclusive play equipment.

Sport is a major part of the reserve. Facilities include an Australian Rules football oval for the winter season, a cricket net and cricket oval for summer, netball goal posts, a basketball hoop and two tennis courts. The tennis courts are listed as being in fair condition, with on-street parking around 25 metres away. Bookings are required for exclusive use or specific playing times, and court hire charges apply. A single basketball hoop is also available for casual shooting.

Access is possible from Waterfall Gully Road, where off-road parking is provided, though the rocky path to the upper reserve has a slight incline. Alternative street parking is available on Zenith Road, Windarra Avenue and Wyatt Road, with access involving a walk across or down a path; weekend parking restrictions apply on some surrounding streets. The reserve also has a disabled toilet and BBQ facilities. It is a practical choice for families, casual players, sporting groups and visitors wanting a short bushland walk, with the lookout trail adding a scenic element to the courts, oval and playgrounds.
