OzHarvest Adelaide Office

OzHarvest Adelaide Office is home to OzHarvest Market Adelaide, a community food-relief market in Hindmarsh that opened in August 2024 in response to increased demand. The market follows a “take what you need, give if you can” approach, with fresh produce, pantry items and cooked meals available to people in need. It operates at 27 Manton Street on Tuesdays from 9am to midday, Wednesdays from 4pm to 7pm, and Thursdays from 9am to midday.

The Adelaide team has been rescuing good food since 2011. Each week, five OzHarvest vans rescue about 20,000 kilograms of quality surplus food and deliver more than 40,000 meals to people in need across Adelaide. The local operation also supports 130 charities and works with 150 food donors, giving the Hindmarsh site a broader role than a conventional market.

There are several ways to engage with the organisation beyond the market. Volunteers can assist with weekday food rescue runs, kitchen sessions, education programs, the warehouse food garden and general support. Group bookings are available for Cooking For A Cause, where OzHarvest chefs lead teams of eight to 30 through a three-hour session using rescued ingredients to prepare meals for local charities. OzHarvest also offers vegetarian, zero-waste-inspired catering for events and functions, with each booking helping fund its food-relief work.

The Adelaide office is also connected to education and training programs. FEAST helps primary and high school students explore food waste, healthy eating and classroom cooking, while NEST teaches adults practical ways to cook and eat well on a budget. Nourish supports people aged 16 to 25 who face barriers to education, work or training, including an Adelaide Certificate II in Cookery delivered with the Adelaide Institute of Hospitality. This makes the Hindmarsh site suited to people seeking food relief, community groups, volunteers, schools, corporate teams and organisations wanting to support OzHarvest’s work.
