PEAQ Performance

PEAQ Performance is a gym and high-performance training centre in Semaphore, Adelaide, designed to make structured athletic training available beyond professional sport. Its offering combines strength and conditioning, performance testing, recovery services, allied health and rehabilitation, with access intended for everyone from professional athletes to everyday training enthusiasts. Members can use open functional training areas, squat racks and a basketball court, while selected memberships include group fitness, yoga, mat Pilates, Reformer Pilates and recovery facilities.

The group training program covers several distinct styles. METCON uses timed circuits and other high-intensity formats, while FORCE rotates through lower-body, upper-body and full-body sessions across a 12-week progression. CAPACITY focuses on conditioning and work-to-rest ratios, and POWER is a 60-minute athletic development class created by the centre’s strength and conditioning coaches. The mobility and Pilates timetable includes FLOW, ELEVATE, RELEASE, RESET and BALANCE, with options ranging from gentle movement and breathwork to deeper mobility, core work and more challenging practice. The Reformer Pilates room has two machines in a calm, self-service space and is available to Ultimate Performance members.

Recovery is a substantial part of the facility rather than an add-on. Depending on membership, access can include saunas, contrast bath water therapy and Normatec compression pants. PEAQ also runs a rehabilitation program led by a physiotherapist, supporting members and athletes returning to sport or everyday activities. Its Youth Academy provides a pathway for young athletes, while performance testing and allied health partnerships broaden the support available around training. The centre’s stated approach is to combine coaching, sport science, recovery and practitioner input in one setting.

The venue was founded by Sean and Jaimi Baker, with co-owners Greg Stafford and Dr Darren Burgess bringing experience from elite Australian and international sport. PEAQ says its aim grew from the gap between the resources available to elite athletes and those accessible to local communities. That background informs an environment intended to feel more like a sporting club than a conventional gym, with members, coaches and practitioners forming a connected community. It suits juniors building confidence, recreational members seeking structured training, athletes working towards performance goals and people managing a return from injury. Memberships provide 24/7 gym access, with some plans adding classes, Pilates and recovery amenities.
