Woodhouse Adventure Park

Woodhouse Adventure Park is a 54-hectare outdoor destination in Hahndorf, Adelaide, set among Adelaide Hills bushland, creeks and open space. Around 25 minutes from Adelaide, it offers an easy change of pace without requiring a long trip from the city. The focus is on active, screen-free time outdoors, with space to crawl, climb, slide, splash and explore. Activities are best suited to visitors aged 5 to 85, while children under five can visit free. Enclosed shoes are required, and the Tube Slide operates on weekends when weather permits.

Families are well catered for, with day adventures, school-holiday programs for children aged five to 12, and birthday parties designed to get kids moving outside. The park also supports school excursions, camps and retreats, with outdoor experiences intended to build confidence, resilience and connection. For older students, the Compass retreat provides one-day or two-night formats for Years 11 and 12, combining outdoor learning, reflection and collaborative activities with curriculum-linked personal and social development.

Woodhouse is more than a day-visit adventure park. Guests can stay in camping, chalets or group accommodation, with facilities that include shared accommodation, tent sites, showers, toilets and barbecues. The site also hosts conferences, team-building and wellbeing experiences, as well as weddings that can bring ceremonies, receptions, guests and accommodation together in the Adelaide Hills. Its range of settings makes it suitable for family outings, school groups, organised retreats, celebrations and workplace gatherings rather than just individual gym-style workouts.

There is a substantial history behind the property. Woodhouse acknowledges the continuing connection of Kaurna and Peramangk Traditional Custodians to the area, which has long been a meeting place along waterways in the Piccadilly Valley. Scouts SA purchased the property in 1957, and it has since been used for scouting, camping, events, training and adventure. The grounds include Old Woodhouse Manor, a heritage-listed mansion whose early sections date to the nineteenth century and whose history includes use as an apple orchard and sheep farm. Every visit supports Scouts SA and its work with young people. Assistance dogs are welcome, although other pets are not permitted.
