Wombat Waterhole Playground

Wombat Waterhole Playground sits within Hazelwood Park, one of Burnside’s major reserves in Adelaide. It is a substantial play space with equipment for toddlers and older children, including swings, two flying foxes, a climbing hill with two slides, a roundabout, a nest swing, balance equipment and stand-on spinners. There is also a dinosaur dig sandpit with trays for sand and water play, plus speaking and sound pipes for interactive play.

The playground is set among spacious grassed areas and established parkland, with partial tree shade, seating, a drinking fountain and soft-fall surfacing. Paths with pram ramps lead to the play area, while the wider reserve has accessible pathways and a bridge crossing First Creek. Families can also explore the creek, a duck-filled pond, natural plantings and the Hazelwood Park War Memorial nearby. Barbecues and picnic-friendly open spaces make the reserve suitable for a longer family visit, rather than just a quick playground stop.

Wombat Waterhole is designed to support children of different ages and abilities, with an accessible Liberty swing among its features. The key for the Liberty swing is available from the Burnside Civic Centre Customer Service desk and the George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside during the centre’s October to April period.
